Long-term resource planning guarantees water supplies will meet current and future water needs, including periodic dry years and drought. SCV Water has invested in a diverse portfolio of water supplies to meet our future needs.

Santa Clarita’s water future depends on experienced planning, reliable sources, and smart long-term decisions. Bill Cooper understands the systems and policies needed to help keep water flowing for families, homes, and businesses.

Safe water is one of the most important responsibilities of local water leadership. Bill Cooper understands the importance of protecting water quality through strong standards, careful oversight, and informed decision-making.

Conservation helps protect Santa Clarita’s water future while supporting responsible use today. Bill Cooper supports practical conservation strategies that help the community prepare for long-term water needs.
The responsibility to plan and approve growth is determined by the City of Santa Clarita and the County of Los Angeles. Despite what many people believe, the SCV Water Agency has NO ability to approve or disprove plans - only to provide (by law) the water needed for these projects. Our long-term planning uses the City and County's One Valley One Vision Plan that lays out future plans for the valley.
No one likes urban sprawl and it is probably one of the reasons why Santa Clarita is such a desirable place to live. It is also understandable that many residents wish that the "door would close to future developments" and to keep our town the size that it is. But - for a community to stay vibrant and a desirable place to live, there needs to be careful and responsible plans for the future. Without that, our tax base would erode and schools and community services would be affected.
Businesses that provide needed jobs would look elsewhere. Young families would be forced to move outside of our community to afford housing - which further affects our schools. We need continued responsible planning.
